Working at Navitrak.com

Posted in Computer Stuff by jadz on the July 31st, 2002

I’m working at Navitrak for the next few weeks. Good stuff, I’m enjoying getting to do all the stuff I do at home but getting paid for it. Shortly there after I fly to Ottawa and then on to Montreal for training for the CUSO cooperant placement. All things are go for leaving for Kingston at the end of August.

I sent an e-mail while listening to Scott Mills on BBCR1 (notice link in the bottom of my page). 2 songs later they read it on the air =D.

Oh yeah… check out my video …..

CUSO accepts me for Jamaica

Posted in People by jadz on the July 11th, 2002

I had my interview with CUSO on Monday and it went well. It was a relaxed set of questions many of which I had already read on their website or in the preliminary information I had received from CUSO.

There were three of us in the interview room. A Program Officer and a nice young woman who had just finished a placement in Tanzania. The questions were mixed with a good number of casual discussions about the types of things you encounter while on placement. I found out that I would be heading down with about 3 other applicants from the Maritimes and that I would have to find an apartment in Kingston when I get there (I could get one with the other guys etc.).

Now that CUSO has accepted me the Jamaican organization will review the materials from my interview and then everything should be set.

I looked online for an apartment and started to freak out at the price until I looked up the currency conversion.

1 Canadian Dollar = 31.89684 Jamaican Dollar

Looks like I have something to shoot a film about =D.
