Samsung a460 Ring Tones

I’ve been playing with my a460 and am now able to download and install new backgrounds and also new ringers (I just need to find the ringers now). With my limited knowledge of Korean I’v been trying this app out which converts images to the proper style (which I don’t know). I also had to make some mime changes on my webserver so that the phone when browsing recognizes the images and ringers as the type of files that it can download and use.

3 hours on hold

and I’m going to take a break on this cell phone activation.

57 is not comfortable

I just want everyone to know that 57?F or 14?C is not comfortable.

My first online shopping.

I have completed my first convenience online shopping experience this week. I went to Future Shop to try and find a present for someone, and they were sold out of the item. They said they would be getting a new shipment in that night, so the next morning I called again and they said that it didn’t come in.

I then went to the futureshop website and they had them in stock, the same price, with free UPS shipping. With this deal I was even saving on gas and the headache of driving to bayers lake.

I’m sold (assuming it gets her before the 24th as they promised).

What is a good room/house temperature?

I think The Family Guy did a skit once on how men have a sense for when the thermostat has been tampered with. I think this is funny because I am constantly freeze my ass off here at Rockwood. What do you think is a good house temperature? (60-63) (63-66) (67-70) ?

Did some more reading, interesting thread here (google groups) that shows I’m actually not doing that bad (keeping in mind it is coming from a group called misc.consumers.frugal-living

Looks like I will be seeing a lot of this

Fooling around with Casio E-115, Serial GPS and Mapping software.

This weekend I was using my laptop and a GPS unit to track our progress on the road to goal in Middleton. After showing Claude what the mapping software could do he got excited to look into GPS recievers for a PDA. I had not previously given this much though but last night I made a NULL modem for the serial cable that connectes the cradle to my PC which I then attached my DeLorme Tripmate to.

I thought I was having troubles getting Pocket Streets to hook up with the GPS but it turns out that its just PocketStreets taking a long time to get a fix on the location. I have since installed OziExplorerCE and a few other software titles that allow for real time map tracking. Some even have audio instructions like “Turn left in 100 meteres” so you don’t have to look at your PDA while driving.

St Pats Boys Volleyball Takes Gold

The St Pats boy?s volleyball team showed real heart this weekend (theme song) talking 1st place in the NSSAF Provincial championships in Middleton. Our pool had a 3-way tie in matches won, at which point we actually thought we might not have made crossovers. After further review it turns out that we ended up 2nd in our pool playing the host team Middleton who had come first in their pool. Our boys played well in this game and we won in two games.

The final game was played between St. Pats and the last year?s winners, Cape Breton Highlands Education Centre. The game went to three sets but our boys had great momentum going into the 3rd game and won convincingly. (more pictures here)

St Pats Boys Volleyball

We are heading to play in provincials with the St. Pats Boys volleyball team tomorrow. Should be a blast. I have high hopes for our team.

No More TV-Guide

There are a few sites that use regularly. slashdot.org and wired.com and tvguide.ca. Well it now seems that tvguide.ca is

TV Guide is no longer publishing its listings
on-line. To find your favorite show or check
out the latest in TV news and stories, please
pick up a copy of TV Guide at the newsstands
or have it delivered right to your door

So it looks like I need to find a new source of online tv listings. There must be a few out there.

Organization of Information.

Working in an IT industry makes me realize that there is a amount of our GDP dedicated to pushing paper, whether it be green or white. The entire stock system is based on people pushing other peoples money around; most of the largest buildings downtown are filled with people doing just this. If these people were out working in fields or researching something useful, then in the long run we will be much farther ahead. Historically we have had great achievements when everyone was working towards a common goal. I say everyone but I mean everyone but say the King and his friends. Granted this behavior was often forced on people (slavery etc.), as who wouldn’t, if given the option, get paid to push someone elses money around of having to do demanding research or labor.

My point is (in case you haven’t caught on already) that Digital Cameras should have GPS receivers in them so that the location of the picture is automatically recorded. Our data collection rates are exceeding our sorting capabilities. This blog is a prime example. Lots of people get to this page from google when they are looking for useful information, when they should be going to sites that actually provide useful information.
