Merlin Crashes in UK

Posted in General by jadz on the March 31st, 2004

The incident happened at RNAS Culdrose, near Helston, at about 1500 BST on Tuesday when a Merlin helicopter hit the ground near the control tower.

The ?60m anti-submarine aircraft, which belonged to 824 Squadron, had just taken off on a training flight.

“The aircraft had just lifted into a hover when the pilot experienced control difficulties “
Captain Mike Knowles
Base commander

This is the UK version of the same aircraft Canada uses for SAR (search and rescue).

Heading to the valley.

I’m heading to the valley in a few minutes. My Mother (Hetty van Gurp) is having a grand opening of the documentary about her work with Peaceful Schools International. The documentary is directed by Teresa MacInnes who had followed my mother on several trips to Serbia and Northern Ireland over the past three years to make documentary which will be shown on CTV at some point.

Director Teresa MacInnes brings to Waging Peace her expert eye as a seasoned filmmaker and her sensitivity as a former social worker. Teresa’s directing credits include the documentaries Lost (1999); The Other Side of the Picture (1998); and Under Wraps (1996). Her films have aired nationally in Canada and the US, on CTV, CBC, A&E, Vision and WTN. And they have screened at major international festivals, garnering awards at the New York, Yorkton and Columbus film festivals, as well as at Houston WorldFest and the National Educational Film and Video Festival.

The film is the third in a series including Waging Peace and Learning Peace.

More work.

This photo was again taken with my new A80. It should really be seen at full resolution.

I was talking to a woman tonight and she refused to talk to me after she found out I was 24. I guess that will feel good in a little while.
