Google has announced that they will be watching for a new attribute in hyperlinks. If a link has the attribute ref=”nofollow” google will not use the link in its ranking system. This means that if your blogging software makes use of these tags that there will be no point of spamming URLs anymore.

Google has partnered with MSN Search and Yahoo to adopt this standards and a full description can be found here.

WordPress (formerly B2) will be adopting this and including it in their next release presumably.
